Stepney Green Fair

Building on last year's success, the Stepney Green Fair, a flagship Stifford Centre project since 2010, will be back this year on Sunday 26th July, 12 noon to 7pm at Stepney Green Park.

The fair, which now attracts over 4,000 people, was launched to encourage locals to enjoy a day out in the park and serve as a hub for local businesses, artists, performers and charities to come together and showcase their talents and services.

Key 2015 Stepney Fair attractions will include:

  • Sports: Why not join in? West Ham United Foundation will host a football competition in a dedicated sports area. Children are invited to settle into a Sack Race, team up for Tug-of-War and be ready at the mark for our annual Egg & Spoon race and everybody’s invited to try out the Bubble Ball Competition.
  • Community: Tower Hamlets’ community organisations are on hand to provide advice, information and demonstrations of a range of services, from tips for employment to keeping
  • healthy and improving our neighbourhoods through recycling. Queen Mary University will be present with a workshop on Health & Genes to create awareness about our genetic makeup.
  • Join our workshops to learn the art of Fruit-Carving, Zumba, Yoga, Portrait, Drama, Badge Making and Bollywood Dance.
  • Creativity: Entertainers from across Tower Hamlets will dance, play music, tell terrific tales and delve in drama which will take us to the streets of Brazil for a traditional Afro-Brazilian Capoeira roda, the contemporary buzz of Bengali Baul/Folk music and drumming traditions from villages of North Africa.
  • Food and Business: Outside of food stalls available to tantalize your taste buds with Bengali, Indian, and Italian dishes;
Local micro-business craft wares will include jewellery, food and clothing.
  • Health and Wellbeing: In addition, Stifford Health Trainers will be at hand to provide advice on how to stay fit and healthy through-out the year and signpost people to a range of healthy living programmes such as Weight Management or Stop Tobacco Services.
  • Other services offered by the Health Trainers will be:

- Becoming a Health Champion (Volunteer) 
- Free BMI and Health Checks 
-  A 10 minute Head, Neck, Shoulder or Back massage (culturally sensitive) 
-  Raffle prize draw – worth up to £200 
-  Free Yoga session (in the park/main stage) 
-  Information provided by British Heart Foundation representatives 
-  Mental Health-Health Trainers Services to overcome depression and anxiety 
-  Delicious Smoothie making with seasonal summer fruits 

And if all of the above is not enough to keep you buzzing, why not join us to just chill out in the park with an Ice Cream or Ice-cold Smoothie?
